One of the most important lessons we’ve learned from Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma is that every American—regardless of where you live—must have an adequate supply of safe drinking water on hand for emergency situations.
America’s top disaster preparedness agencies have consistently offered the following advice: Maintain the equivalent of 3 gallons of water for every family member in your home. This covers drinking and sanitation needs over the critical 72-hour period when you may be on your own (1 gallon per person, per day), as rescuers tend to those most in need of assistance.
But after seeing footage of a ravaged New Orleans, should we keep even more water on hand? The answer may, indeed, be “yes.”

With so much worry about climate change, world wars, and a possible apocalypse, 2012 has kind of gone under the radar. However, many believe that all of these things are connected, and that December 21, 2012, will be the day that everything reaches its peak, leading to a rash of catastrophic events that will destroy our way of life and possibly lead to a mass extinction.
For those who are keeping a close eye on 2012, and even for those who believe that anything that happens won’t be because of the date, the question of survival is a pressing one. Is there any way for people to prepare for future?
Is there anything that they can do to survive the 2012 apocalypse, whether it be caused by a passing planet’s (Nibiru, Eris, or Planet X) gravitational field, climate change incited by man, or a solar maximum that causes geomagnetic reversal?

Will there be mass suicide during the year 2012? As many of us know, there is a Mayan prophecy that says there will be a major catacalisim on the date 2012 December 21. Many people are scared about this. What are the chances of there being mass suicide during the year of 2012?

I have heard much about the winter solstice doomsday of 2012, and have now seen the documentary. I feel as though the documentary was skewed to make us believe it will happen, and did not hear many opinions to the contrary. I would like a scientific viewpoint.

I mean where is the proof, I will consider believing it when I see cold hard evidence on it, like what else has been predicted
Question: who started this whole rumor about 2012?
BQ: Do you believe it? I don’t
BQ2: If dec 21, 2012 happens to be the final day, how will you spend your day, what will you do?

First off, I will say that I don’t believe that 2012 will be any different of a year than any other one. I am asking about how people will react when the year finally comes around. With all of the media that this so called “prophecy” has gotten, don’t you think that people will go to great lengths to try and stop it, since they “know” that it will happen?
Or, on the other hand, will people go to great lengths to make something happen in an attempt to fulfill the predictions?

The main subject of the conversation at my school today was that everybody will die on the 21st of December 2012, due to this planet Nimbiru that will collide with the Earth. I’ve read alot about the theory, and have formulated my own opinion, but I wondered what the people on Yahoo Answers thought?

I am interested in knowing more about the 2012 prediction. Who believe that it is true? Who believes that it isn’t true? What research has been done, etc?

I got an answer to the question about the 2012 hoax being more commonly discussed in the United States than the rest of the world when i heard it is worldwide. Then I got this answer that right now, it’s starting to fade, even though we’re getting closer to the year 2012.
