It’s interesting that today is Sir Isaac Newton’s birthday because I’ve been watching The DaVinci Code for the last couple of days.  It’s the only movie I have in the house until Blockbuster arrives.  Darn the holidays!  And Isaac Newton figures prominently in the plot. 

And did you also know that Isaac Newton predicted the end of the world?  That’s right.  Only he says we’re going to be around until 2060 – not 2012 like the Mayans have predicted.  Since 2012 comes well before 2060, and it’s not really that far off, I think I’ll continue my research and preparations so I’ll be around to see if Newton’s predictions are acurate!

There are certainly a lot of people who adore the sun for its ability to give them a fantastic skin colour. When you think about this, it is quite plain to see, that these people are looking for ways that they can acquire a tanned skin.

The methods that some people employ in order to get a suntanned skin include getting a tan outdoors from the sun itself, but also, tanning beds, tanning booths, spray on tanners, self tanning lotions and tanning pills. When we are suffering from a headache we generally try to think of ways to stop the pain. However, as there are different types of headaches, the treatments may work for only a some of the headache types. There are two different ways of stopping the pain caused by headaches. These types of headache treatment are called prophylactical and abortive headache treatments.

The prophylactic treatment needs to be taken everyday in order to reduce the frequency of the attacks and to control the severity of the headache. Abortive headache treatment is commenced only when the headache starts.

You must understand that your doctor will not prescribe any prophylactic headache treatment unless you are suffering from several, frequent headache attacks every month. When you take the prophylactic medication you will be monitored for side effects like weight gain, water retention, lethargy, memory impairment and hallucinations.

Copperhead snakes are the cause of most of the snake-bite problems in the United States. The copperhead can be distinguished by its thick shape and its neck, which is quite distinct from its body as well as by its pale cross-band tan pattern that darkens in the middle and on the sides.

Copperhead snakes have pale bellies, which makes it look very similar to its background, but their colourisation also be whitish sometimes. There are obvious spots or pits on the head of the copperhead snake that appear like tiny dark specks. There is also a rather vague stripe on its head behind its eyes; less prominent on the top, the stripe gets a lot darker towards the sides of the snake’s head.

Copperhead snakes live in all sorts of habitats: you can find them under rocks, in woods and on river banks or in areas around ponds. A specimen will choose its habitat depending on the predominant prey, as copperhead snakes feed on birds, frogs, mice, cicadas, caterpillars and almost any other small animal they manage to hunt.

The Razor kick scooter is the present-day equivalent of the kind of scooter that has been about for 50 years or more. In actuality, children have almost definitely been attaching boards to wheels ever since scrap wheels became available. As with those classic scooters, the Razor kick scooter is propelled forward by foot power. That is, you put one foot on the board and push forward, or in other words kick back on the ground with the other.

A great many of us live with headaches that afflict us for no apparent reason. Some of these headache types occur once and then we may live for many years before we have them again. Other types of headaches seem to occur very often in our lives. These latter headaches are known as frequent headaches.

Usually, frequent headaches seem to be tension headaches. However, frequent headaches can also be the result of over-dosing on over-the-counter (OTC) medications. This sort of frequent headache is called a ‘rebound headache’, because, while it is safe to take the recommended dose to combat headaches, rebound headaches occur because the dosage has been surpassed.

So here are 10 interesting facts you may not know about the UFC.

1. Original promoters of the Ultimate Fighting Championship wanted to include such sensational side shows as alligator moats and electric fences surrounding the ring. UFC Doctors of course warned against them due to the dangers the fighters could face.

2. The UFC was founded by Rorian Gracie and Arthur Davie. It was created to promote the Gracie family’s martial arts school. Before the UFC the Gracie’s were known for inviting fighters of any style to compete against a member of the family or one of their students to prove that Gracie jiu-jitsu reigned supreme.

3. Originally Semaphore Entertainment Group, the company that purchased the UFC, was only going to hold one UFC event. The event was so successful they immediately began to plan more tournaments. Good thing it was so successful.
