Does The Story About The World Ending In 2012 Seem Stupid To You?

It does to me. In fact it kind of has the same story line as a film called Disney’s Hercules i watched as a child. In the film all nine planets aline and than the titans are unleashed reacking havock on the world. Kind of reminds me about 2012. What do you think?

It’s entirely stupid. Non-existent ‘alignments’ which are supposed to wreak all kinds of havoc, passing mystery planets, pole shifts, photon belts, etc. I think the average five-year-old wouldn’t be taken in by it.
There’s not one single prediction that has any basis in science except for the solstice on 21st December – a perfectly regular annual event.
Yes.
The world has existed for over four billion years. Is it reasonable to expect that it will come to an end in less than four years? And all because of a Mayan calendar? Use some common sense.
The most interesting astronomical events in 2012 will be an annular eclipse of the Sun on 2012 May 20, a total eclipse of the Sun on 2012 Nov 13, and a transit of the planet Venus across the face of the Sun on 2012 Jun 06.
Scientists don’t expect anything out of the ordinary to happen in the year 2012, or specifically on the date December 21, except for the solstice, which happens every year.
None of the “predicted” happenings for 2012 hold up under close scrutiny. “Planet X” and “Nibiru” simply don’t exist. The Mayan calendar ends a cycle, but there were no predictions of the end of the world. The Sun doesn’t line up with the galactic centre; it’s 6 degrees off. No asteroids or comets are actually predicted to hit Earth.
All of this stuff was put together by crackpots in order to promote their books and TV shows, and shamelessly promoted by the History Channel. Don’t take any of it seriously!
2012 is just another ‘end of the world’ rumor. It’s a crock.
The claims being made about it are not even consistent from person to person, and nearly all of them are impossible and/or based on pseudo-science.
Example: Nancy Leider claims that Planet X has a powerful magnetic field, and that when it passes close to Earth it will twist the crust of the earth, moving the continents around. Of course, a basic knowledge of geology will tell you that this is impossible since the magnetic field of earth is produced by the circulation of the molten outer core, and not by the crust.
It does seem to me too.
They´ve got 0 proof, they only base their theories on strange so called “prophecies” without any scientific proof at all…
LMAO, and the funniest is that when you try to explain something scientific to them they attack you like a Barbie Doll… I was answered by someone at Youtube yesterday who owned a video “oh we are all doomed by 2012, let´s fear Nibiru” thing, I explained how the so called planet could not be attached to any star, scientific proof, and he replied to me. “your mind is weak and simple” or something like that. And then erased my comment and his own reply…, scared much?
xDDDDDDD
Let them be, let´s see what they say once Dec. 21st has gone away.
of course.
how could an ancient civilization know what century, decade, year, month, day the world was going to end, yet they couldn’t figure out the wheel.
it’s just stupid.
The world is in distress, the animals are dying off, global warming..when the earth is ready to change then it will and it will not matter what we think. Truth is we could die today, so we need to be thankful for life around us and the beauty of it. Enjoy nature and the comfort of others. A rock just missed us that if it would have hit us the right way we wouldn’t be here right now…The world worries about material objects and that is beyond earth. Earth is amazing if you break it down. All the different life and the way we all live together in a ball…I guess what I am saying is live life like it was to be gone and don’t spend time worrying over something that is out of our hands and is gods domain. He will not flood the earth again, but we need to allow him to do his work…and if we are what he ask, then we have nothing to worry about. My husband believes that movies are what is capable of happening and that they put it in movies to activate our mind so that when it comes up we believe that we already saw that somewhere and we don’t have a world panic. Like Armageddon, or 29days, or other weird movies..The world is going through a lot, I just try to enjoy my children and my circle of life in the ball of mankind.
Yes.
One of several Mayan calendars is the Long Count calendar, which is reset to day 0 every 1,872,000 days or 7057.5 years. The next reset date, by some calculations, is December 21, 2012. This is not a prediction of the end of the world.
These predictions are scare tactics, conspiracy theories, and chances to make money from books and movies.
Ever since the Y2K and 6/6/6 (June 6, 2006) End of the World scenarios did not pan out, the scare mongers, conspiracy theorists, book sellers, and television executives have been touting the 2012 End of the World scenario. When 2012 does not happen either, I am sure they will think of something else.
“But of that day or hour, no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be watchful! Be alert! You do not know when the time will come.” (Mark 13:32-33)
Jesus told us in no uncertain terms that we were not to know when the end of the world would come but that we were always to be ready.
The early Christian Church thought that Jesus was going to return at any moment. Only after a couple of centuries did the Church realize that it may be 2,000 or 4,000 or 8,000 years before Jesus returns.
The Catholic Church wisely follows Jesus’ advice and teaches that each of us should live as if we will meet our maker in the next ten minutes and that we need to work to make the world a better place for our 100 X great-grandchildren.
Do not worry about the end of the world. Trust God to make sure everything happens to plan. Just be ready to meet God at any time.

With love in Christ.
The world won’t end in 2012, but there won’t be an America in 2012. The Oligarchs will finally control of this country, Obama will be puppet dictator, and there will be an economic depression is what will happen.
It isn’t stupid. It is all lies and fraud and it is a clever marketing campaign for worthless books and videos. It is particularly aimed at middle school people.
Even the oblique questions on this subject have been asked too often and seem stupid to me.
These people are not saying the world is going to end, they are just saying that something is going to happen that will affect the whole world.
which is it?
stupid Disney or stupid mythology?
there are only 8 planets.
If anything happens in 2012, it’s just a natural disaster.
Yes. That it has all zeros, ones and twos makes it seem that way. How convenient.
yea, I mean look how long the world has been around for already.
yes, it is stupidness.
yes, it is stupid.
