How Do Christians View 2012 As Being The End Of The World?

I have been doing a lot of studying and reading, and I would like to know what christians think about Dec 21, 2012 as being the end date? Could it even be possible that that would start the information in Revelations?

Probably not but, with God, anything is possible.
“But of that day or hour, no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be watchful! Be alert! You do not know when the time will come.” (Mark 13:32-33)
Jesus told us in no uncertain terms that we were not to know when the end of the world would come but that we were always to be ready.
Each new Christian denomination seems to worry about the end of the world a bit too much. Then after a couple of centuries, they realize that there are always wars and rumors of wars, etc.
I won’t even mention the hundreds of false predictions of the end of the world over the centuries, all of which were based on individual interpretations of biblical prophecies.
The first century Christian Church thought that Jesus was going to return at any moment. Only after a couple of centuries did the Church realize that it may be 2,000 or 4,000 or 8,000 years before Jesus returns.
The Catholic Church wisely follows Jesus’ advice and teaches that each of us should live as if we will meet our maker in the next ten minutes and that we need to work to make the world a better place for our 100 X great-grandchildren.
Do not worry about the end of the world. Trust God to make sure everything happens to plan. Just be ready to meet God at any time.

With love in Christ.
There is no information in Revelation about anything contemporary. It is a historical tract, written for 1st century people. Read it as such and you will stand some chance of understanding it. Think it applies to today and you will finish up in fruitcake land, along with all the Rapture Ready brigade.
It is now meaningless to talk about the end of the world, because we know, as Biblical people didn’t, that our planet is tiny. If our entire galaxy were to wink out of existence, the universe as a whole would not take any notice. Short of some random collision with a meteorite, our “world” will carry on for many millions of years yet.
no one ever knows, it can’t be told, just live your life to its fullest, be kind to everyone, realize that, life is a small part of your journey, live a good life, 30 years from now, it won’t matter what material things you had, it will matter who your friends are and how well you live your life, the end of the world wont matter if you take care of everything now
Just the end of a dead societies calender. That society and culture died out before they had a chance to lengthen it.
The intelligence level of that society was not strong enough to even keep it alive much less be able to say when the world would end.
All the Christians I know believe that the end of the world will come when least expected. And as for the book of Revelation, for all we know the things in it may be happening now, as much of the book could quite possibly be metaphor.
i know the coming of Christ is close, but to narrow it down and give a date would be false and not advised, for God said no man knows the day or hour not even Jesus, but the Father only.
so why bother trying to predict the exact time, JUST BE READY, FOR IN AN HOUR YOU THINK NOT THE SON OF MAN COMES.
be sure your lamp is full of oil, and stay the course, fight the good fight , and run the race set before you with patience,
I know what God has told me, which is basically that I cannot die until my vision is accomplished. And my vision will not be accomplished in 2012. There are too many things that God is doing right now for it to end spontaneously
The Bible is quite clear about saying that no one will know when the end of days will be upon us.
to listen to Nostradamus or Mayan prophesy, you first have to ignore Biblical prophesy <—which doesn’t seem like a very Christian thing to do.
It’s actually revelation.
And that’s a huge generalization.
Unless we somehow find someway to blow ourselves to bits(which isn’t that impossible considering….), the world will not end.
There is no possible way that any human past present or future can name the date of the end of the age. It is as simple as that. Thanks for asking.

For some reason, Christians started following Mayan beliefs. I guess the Gregorian calendar failed to predict the end of the world too many times, so they had to outsource their search for Armageddon.
Highly unlikely that it’s the end of the world.
If it were, then Jesus lied to us when He said that no one knows the day or hour.
Dispensational Christians don’t believe that 2012 will be the end of the world because after the tribulation, there is going to be a thousand year reign of Christ.
hm, I’m not sure..
sorry,
I really hope the world doesn’t end
well actually.. it would be kind of nice.. wouldn’t it?
kind of
Christians are clear that no man knows the hour, therefore any guesses are simply ignored. The world’s end has been predicted so VERY many times. So far, they’ve all been wrong.
Jooooooo these Russellista would not leave we celebrate Christmas of the 2012.
No man knows the hour, and no true Christian would ever attempt to try and guess. The Mayan calendar means nothing to Christians.
Christians see it as nonsense, because the Bible says no one knows the date of Christs return.
The day the end of the world will come, is the day God comes back for us.
True Christians know that no one knows the day or the hour except God Himself. The scriptures say even Jesus does not know.
like everybody else
No there is not even a hint of a date in the bible
I DON’T VIEW IT THAT WAY.
we dont
i think that that is the indians
Very much so…wars in the middle east…………
that one, mayan? calender ends
firm believer in ending in 2012
