My Niece Is Scared To Death About The 2012 Stuff. What Are Some Web Sites That Disprove It?

My niece is 13 years old and scared to death about all the 2012 stuff. She found the IHC website and that freaked her out even more. If that is just a movie promo those people should be ashamed of themselves. its sick, to make money off of people’s fears.
I just want some websites that talk about 2012 and disprove that anything will happen.

Ever since the Y2K and 6/6/6 (June 6, 2006) End of the World scenarios did not pan out, the scare mongers, conspiracy theorists, book sellers, and television executives have been touting the 2012 End of the World scenario. When 2012 does not happen either, I am sure they will think of something else.

Jesus told us in no uncertain terms that we were not to know when the end of the world would come but that we were always to be ready.
The early Christian Church thought that Jesus was going to return at any moment. Only after a couple of centuries did the Church realize that it may be 2,000 or 4,000 or 8,000 years before Jesus returns.
The Catholic Church wisely follows Jesus’ advice and teaches that each of us should live as if we will meet our maker in the next ten minutes and that we need to work to make the world a better place for our 100 X great-grandchildren.
Do not worry about the end of the world. Trust God to make sure everything happens to plan. Just be ready to meet God at any time.

Some very unreliable people came up with the rather silly ideas about 2012, which include:
1) the world ending… no reason given (Mayans, from Jose Arguelles, who claims to be a reincarnated priest)
2) most of the world being destroyed, some enslaved (Nibiru, Zech Stitchin, who read this off a Sumerian toilet paper roll… well, not really, but the guy can’t read the language, so don’t tell him)
3) most of the world being destroyed, except a few that hitchhike with aliens (Planet X, Nancy Lieder, who frequently has conversations with the aliens, usually in dreams, although they once sent her a signal in a Starburst candy… no, I am NOT making that up)
4) the Earth goes poof, due to it crossing a equator of the Milky Way (no, I don’t get this one, either)
5) the Earth goes poof, due to the Sun lining up with the center of the Milky Way (I am a complete blank on how this works, too)
6) the Earth goes poof, due to the Sun’s “solar maximum” which although coming in early 2013, will somehow be early and… well… really big. (I think this one can be blamed on Michio Kaku, who really should know better than to predict the Sun TEN years early, now the predictions say “less than average” for 2012-3)
7) the Earth will be eaten by a Giant Space Squid. (this is mine, it is at least as likely as most, as I am as unreliable as most)

i totally disbelive of the 2012 prediction, i also went on the ihc website and thought it was so funny i almost peed my pants..you see they say that planet x is going to smash into earth how can that be if it is no where in sight yet and theres no proof of it., the goverment makes cover ups to control people as they wish. just like the y2k thing in 1999-2000. She shouldnt be scared at all. Tell her that a very long time ago, some guys led by Orson Welles put on a radio play about Martians landing in New Jersey. They even announced, during commercial breaks, that it was just a play. And hundreds of people freaked out, loaded their shotguns, stockpiled food, and went to join the battle.
Tell her it’s pretty much the same thing.
Just google “earth’s precession” and have her read about it. It is just the “end of the precessional cycle”- which takes 26,000 years. The Mayans were so good astronomers, they noted this cycle! Amazing!
The planets will line up on that date- and the cycle begins again– the sun will set “into the mouth of the ourborus” which is the snake’s open mouth- just the picture our milky way galaxy looks like- the snake eating it’s tail.
Just like we “see” the man in the moon- just pretty pictures to imagine.

And you know- our earth DOES show that catastrophes do happen from time to time! We can’t do a think about it. Enjoy each day that comes to us.
It is a good lesson for us to learn. It doesn’t take the end of the entire world- it could be a car accident the next day! We don’t know.
Tell your niece we don’t gain anything by worry.
Once I was shopping when I heard a sound that reminded me of birds warning each other, very high pitched and chattery. it was a group of young mothers, standing in front of the window of the store, pulling their children apart like curtains as a car crashed through the window into the store and hit the wall a few feet from where I was standing.

tell her about Y2K/the year 2000, and how in the past people thought the universe would end (also how people might WANT the universe to stop existing), but so far….nope.

Just tell her that It is ridiculous. God doesn’t want us to know when the world will end. Only God the father knows, not even Christ knows, and he’s keeping that secret close to him. The proof is logic.
Don’t depend on the internet to educate yourself or your niece. Just use common sense.

The entire claim that the Earth was going to end in 2012 is based on a *misinterpretation* of the Mayan calender, which appears to those who don’t know how to read it to end in 2012.
In reality, the Mayan calender is a cyclic calender, meaning it runs in a cycle. (Much like a car’s odometer, which, when it reaches 999,999 miles, will click back over and start at 000,000 again.) The people who are claiming that the Mayans predicted the end of the world are reading the Mayan calender as if it was a linear calender like ours. It’s not. The Mayans did NOT predict the end of the world. They did NOT make any claims of the sort. The people who say that the Mayans said anything like that are people who know NOTHING about the Mayan culture, don’t know how to read the Mayan calender, and have NO idea what they’re talking about.
Either way, why anyone would attach any sort of significance to a perceived “prediction” made by an ancient civilization that couldn’t even predict it’s own downfall is beyond logical comprehension. (Not that any end-time theorists in the history of mankind are known for their logic or comprehension skills.) It’s particularly baffling that it’s Christians who seem to have grabbed on to this, and use it to back up their religion’s end-time fantasy, when under ANY other circumstances they would say that the Mayans beliefs were “false beliefs”.

The world isn’t going to end in 2012. Those who claim that scientists are predicting doomsday in 2012 are lying. There were no ancient prophecies concerning 2012 until 2003. Only crackpots and charlatans, who didn’t bother to take any science classes, are predicting disaster in 2012.
The whole thing started out with unqualified people (Jose Arguelles and Zecharia Sitchen) misinterpreting the Mayan calendar (it doesn’t end, it merely recycles) and ancient Sumerian writings about the planet Jupiter. Then a woman named Nancy Lieder, who thinks she hears messages from aliens in her head decided to hijack Sitchen’s imaginary planet for her alien fantasies. She said this planet would return in 2003. When it failed to show up, she just changed her doomsday to 2012 to agree with Arguelles misinterpretation of the Mayan calendar. It has been all downhill from there. People keep tacking on new fantasies, none of which have a shred of scientific validity.
They make up new scenarios of doom faster than scientists can debunk them, and they actually claim that scientists are saying these things. No scientist is claiming any doomsday scenario for 2012. Also, all the claims of prophecies for 2012 are false. No one predicted it before this bunch of scam artists started it to make money. Unfortunately, the History Channel, which used to be a reputable information source, gave up their credibility for better ratings and jumped on the 2012 bandwagon. Too many kids believe everything they see on the internet and are unable to discern a reputable scientific website from a crackpot one.
This whole pile of garbage just keeps growing. Don’t worry about it. It is just people making money off books, advertising, “survival kits”, and whatever else they can dream up to sell.

personally i dont think anything is going to happen because of Hal Lindsys book the late great planet earth. there is a current link on the c2c website for other his links. anyway, in the prophecies of the old prophets there is always the three unfulfilled prophecies that must be accomplished. first the ocean must dry up, there has to be a Great earth quake the world has Never known, (possibly an Axis-tilt) the mountains and the valley will be removed and the WINDs will stop, for the winds to stop, the earth itself MIGHT have to stop spinning.
and i think all of these things have to happen before the world is burned up in ferverent heat. or become a sea of Glass.
the millenial reign of christ and his 2nd coming has to happen. i dont think it will happen on Dec 12 on any calendar or eternal prophecy.
then according to the movie late great planet earth, there seems to be the prophecies of a Nuclear war. either that or God will reign down something like 25 lb hail stones which act like atomic blasts. there is even a description of eyeballs falling out of sockets before the body falls to the ground, many people say this is what happens when a nuke bomb is detinated.
