What Are The Chances Of Something Happening In 2012 That Was Predicted?

First off, I will say that I don’t believe that 2012 will be any different of a year than any other one. I am asking about how people will react when the year finally comes around. With all of the media that this so called “prophecy” has gotten, don’t you think that people will go to great lengths to try and stop it, since they “know” that it will happen?
Or, on the other hand, will people go to great lengths to make something happen in an attempt to fulfill the predictions?

The Mayans never actually predicted the end of the world. The only thing stemming from this is the fact the calendar ends come December 12, 2012.
The one thing the Mayans say is that by 2012 If we continue on this negative path of hate, an eye for an eye, destruction of nature, of fear and egoism, we will enter straight into the time of destruction and chaos, and we will disappear as the dominant race of this planet.
If we become conscious and realize that we all form part of a great organism, and that we should respect one another and be grateful to our planet, then we will move directly into positive growth, our Golden Age.
they seem to believe we’re in for a great state of enlightenment and a new way of life if we choose the right path. those that do not choose the right path will face the consequences.
however, for 2012 the Mayans also predict:
we will have gone beyond technology as we know it.
(This happens on a daily basis since forever though. We’ve gone beyond technology as THEY knew it, beyond technology as our grandparents knew it, or kids will have technology that goes beyond what WE know it. It’s how it works.)
we will have gone beyond time and money.
(By 2012? Really? with the ecomomic turmoil our nation is in, time is extremely important and money is on our minds every second of every minute of every hour of every day of every week of every month of every year.
Even if Obama is able to fix things with a wave of his magic wand, I don’t see us “Going beyond time and money” by 2012.)
we will have entered the fifth dimension after passing through the fourth dimension
(Come ON! This one gets me. We can’t even make it through the third dimention. we’re suppose to be entering the fifth dimention in less than 3 years? I don’t see that happening except in theory.)
My theory is this.
People were freaking out about Y2K. when computers tried turning to 2000, it wouldn’t register and missles would be launched unwittingly setting off world war three, Yellowstone would erupt destroying the world, a meteor would hit the earth, aliens would come to abduct our world leaders leaving us in chaos. phones and computers would go down, no one would be able to contact their loved ones.
When 2000 came and went, there was a NEW theory…
2000 wasn’t the ACTUAL beginning of the new milennium because the milennium started with year 1 a.d., so the actual Y2K would happen on 2001. The first milennium was 1001 a.d. and the second is 2001 a.d.
So the doomsday prophesies came out again.
shortly after 2001 came and went, they focused on the year of damnation… 6.6.06. The year of the mark of the demon. the antichrist would be re-born and life as we know it would be coming to an end.
When that came and went with little more than a bad remake of “the Omen”, the “I REALLY want the world the END” sayers focused on 7.7.07.
I’m not sure why… it was supposedly bad luck to someone for some reason… I don’t know.
Now the main focus is on 12.21.12.
it’s like people really really really really really want the world to end. It’s kind of sad so many people are praying for the destruction of our planet.
My grandma on my dad’s side was like that. She said the world was going to end 1992, and that the proof was in the fact that women were starting to get tattooed (The mark of the devil). She died 1991. We’re still here, too bad she wasn’t here to see it.
2012 I don’t think will be any different from any other year, and whatever does happen, is more survivable now than it would have been in the past.
not to mention for the biblical scholars that are constantly talking about “the bible code” forget one thing… when asked, Jesus told his disciples when asked about when he’d return, “the end will come like a theif in the night. no one knows the hour nor day, not the angels in heaven, nor the son. only the father knows of it’s coming.”
in fact, this is mentioned on more than one occassion.”
so my position is that 2012 will be just like any other year, and not long after the 21st, we’ll be in 2013.
and then we can listen to the 2020 prophecies for the end of the world.
do I worry about these “predictions?” its human to freak out when there are experts in freaking people out trying to freak you out.
but come what may… live your life to the best of your ability so you can look back and say you truly have no regrets and that you were a good person.
Don’t know what the chances are, but it was mentioned in the book of revelations. something about 4 horses, and 7 seals…
White one (name is Pestilence) = anti christ; one that draws you towards him and destroys humanity.
Pale one (name is Death) = sickness, asteroids hitting us (called Wormwood), earthquakes, cold weather…pretty much natural disasters EVERYWHERE
Dark one (name is Famine) = hunger, drought and disease
Red one (name is War) = slaughter of each other

7 seals : everyone one that is broken = horrible catastrophes
Also when you “decode” the Bible and list the letters and numbers in the order in which they are presented, you come up with one match that says “2012 earth annihilation” The year 2012 was chosen as “doomsday” because on December 21, 2012, the Sun is going to be in the center of the galaxy (which happens ever few hundred thousand years) and last time that happened, many species went extinct.
I think in that year, there will be a lot of tension.
I agree, i don’t fully buy into that prediction.
sure, in 2012, i think i’ll be very curious and on my toes, waiting to see if all the people going around screaming “Doomsday!” are correct, but i won’t constantly watch my back, or live in fear that the world could blow up any second.
I don’t think people will actually want doomsday to happen. The most response i’ve seen so far about all of this is “i dont’ want to die!” so i think most people won’t try to fulfill the prediction.

I don’t know about how accurate these claims are…but, I can tell you that something big is happening around that time and date. Scientific fact is thatEarth will be located at galacy equator on that date. As scientists don’t know actually what can happen when we are at galaxy’s equator. BTW, we are already approaching galaxy equator and as we know that our galaxy is pretty much flat, so a lot of stray asteroids are hoovering in that belt. We will see increasing meteor shower over next few years. Also, a possibility of frequent earthquakes (BTW, we already had 3 quakes in last 7 days: indonesia, costa rica, Southern california)
As Earth will pass through this highly “populated” belt, we will see occassional meteors reaching earth’s surface
Anyway, have strong faith in God, and follow 10 commandments.
They say this every time something comes around. 1999, Y2K-the most memorable, but I am sure they did that every century as well. I don’t think it will happen then because I believe that we are here and the universe is expanding with our growth. We are not done yet. There is so much more to experience. I believe life is lived to experience it, the good bad and ugly, even things we don’t like, we are experiencing what we came for.
NOW- they are even putting in Nostradamus with 2012. Will the insanity ever end? 2013 maybe.
Ok, December 21,2009 something is going 2 happen. Some say’s the sun will align with the center of the milky way. Some other people believe that Aliens will come from Planet X and destroy us. The legend says when the Devil went 2 hell the people who believed in what the Devil was saying were sent to the Plant X ( Nibiru). P.S – There is no doubt that something will happen in 2012 so what I think you should do is try to live your life to the fullist ( i’m not saying go put yourself in debt) i’m just saying live it to the fullist like ask the person you would never ask out or do something you would never do.
I believe so…. so many oracles and so many cultures and civilization predict that its coming,, what they make me believe their prediction about the year 2012 is that the have predicted some major events in the world before they happen.. and they happened

I really don’t believe in any of this. I asked my sister why everyone was making a big deal about 2012 and she said it was the yr the world ended. In my opnion, the chances are 10/100 only because I don’t know what to believe. But it sounds fake because there’s so many different predictions. Mass destruction, Yellow Stone exploding,ect…
Well i know the mayans simply regarded it as the end of one age and the beginning of another. Not the end of the world. HOWEVER……..
on an intertesting side note the Mayans based their calender on the solar cycle and the Sun is predicted to be at it’s most active state in 2012. They believe there are even chances it could replicate solar flares that hit earth i believe back in 1859 that blew up transformers across the country and started forrest fires. the same kind of flare that if hit us today would wipe out our satellites and communication systems. Coincidence?? I guess we’ll see soon enough. lol
well in 2012 they predicted that Yellowstone is going to explode. most likely it’s not going to. they predicted that it would in 2000 but it never did.
it’s way over due date like 40,000 years over due. so it might and we all might just die because of it and have winter for like 15,000 years crazy sounding huh?
Ok… when December became January.. what did most people do? Change their calendar. Perhaps that is all the Mayans need to do. For the next calendar, they should note that the end of the calendar is not the end of the world but merely time to buy another calendar.

BTW The Apocalypse it`s not something wrong like world end, it more of evolution of thoughts, like a radical change in our behavior.
There is only ONE book that has any verifiable prophecy in it ( the Bible )
There is NO prophecies concerning 2012

If the Mayans were smart enough to predict the end of the world, doesn’t it stand to reason that they shouldn’t have all died out? Wouldn’t they have “seen” it coming?
The Mayans didn’t predict anything, 2012 is just the year their calendar ends its present cycle. Some people talk about Nostradamus, but I don’t know if he specifically mentions the year 2012.
its nothing to do with doomsday. the Mayan calendar ends on 21 December 2012. just like the Gregorian and lunar and Hijri calendar ends every year.
I would think that if the world was going to end in 3 years, it would be all over the news…
Nostradamus had many predictions that came true, and he said the world in end in fire(global warming), floods and draught(globalwarming), lack of food and war(overpopulation, and war…)
the Mayan calender “ends” 2012, not so sure though…
it is actually proven that all the planets in our solar system will line up on 2012…
Nostradamus said that Jupiter will turn into gold(probably because of its angle to the sun, or reflection or something)
and people who blame it on the particle accelerator say that it will create a black hole…sure, why not?

For whoever said that it was just the end of the mayan calandar, that is incorrect. The Mayans had a “super number” it was something like 1,366,604 or something like that and a scientist many many many years later came up with a number very close to this numer while relating the earths gravitational pull to sun spots. he put it into an equation about the times in the earths history when there were major disasters that dramatically changed the earth. It didn’t work and someone suggested he try the mayan super number and it worked perfectly. the next date is december 23 2012. obviously there isn’t really anything we can do to stop it.
the world will end in 2012 as we know it , look around you people , the time is coming , global warming , on 2012 a comet will hit earth as predicted in the calendar of the mayans (read that off a site) , people i come with a warning . the world WILL end. wars will arise . the anti christ shall be upon us . we must be on the lookout , save yourselves and turn to the light of jesus , for as we know it the world is ending. dont spend your last days thinking it will not end .
